Interactive Web Projects:

Bright Bridge Entertainment

This is the first time that California State University, Los Angeles ACM Chapter participated in Cal Poly Pomona's 6th Annual Information Technology Competition (ITC 2002). The Interactive Web Development contest of the ITC 2002 provided a stage for students (teams of 3-5 members each) from various schools to demonstrate their analytical, technical and presentation skills by developing a Web solution to a real world business case. The case itself was written by a business professional that works in the Web industry.

Our team "MindWorks" took 2nd place over 7 teams that were competing. This is also my first time to win a programming contest! I was also the team leader and in charge of developing the backend functionality. This is one of my latest accomplishments among others.

ProgFest I: The Programming Challenge!

After competing in several programming contests, CSULA-ACM decided to host our first own programming contest for high school and community college students. It was very challenging organizing this event, but without the help of many cooperative and supportive people, this event wouldn't have been possible. There were 20 teams (2-3 students each) participated in our programming challenge. I was the committee Chairperson and one of the things I had to do was write funding proposals and request fundings from the College of Engineering, Computer Science and Technology, Computer Science department, and from our student government. The fundings were used to buy t-shirts, food, and supplies for all the participants, making it free for everyone who participated! A banquet dinner was also included for the winning teams as well as very nice looking plaques for the teams. And of course, all volunteers were invited for the banquet as well for all their hardwork!

CSNetwork

I developed the student section and added some features to the administration section for the 3 parts (Student, Company and Administration) project for Cal State LA's Computer Science Department. It took us approximately 3 months to design the software, learn the CGI scripting language PHP, and implement it. Then 3 months for testing and adding extra features to the project. We presented the finished product to the Industry Board and faculties and they were very impressed with our work. This project was designed using PHP, a scripting CGI language, and MSSQL all running under Apache Server on WINNT. The CS Advisor is currently using our system to keep track of CS Alumni's and Current Students profile and company postings. Students can search for jobs and other alumni, and companies can post jobs and recruit students directly through our system. Additionally, we are constantly adding features to make the Web site more interactive. I have added a forum section for the students to post questions/comments and the administrative features to allow the administrator to monitor the forums. Furthermore, I redesigned the assessment tool (surveys) so the administrator can now create additional surveys, with the ability to customize the responses, and keep track of the results.

.NET Student Ambassor to Microsoft

This site contains Microsoft .NET resources and powerpoint slides I prepared for my presentations. The content and materials of the slides were gathered from various resources. I am no longer running the user groups at CSULA. So if you have any questions about joining the group, please contact the ACM chapter at CSULA.

Year 2002 Graduation

This Web page is dedicated to my friends who have graduated last Spring.

The Manga Translation Index

Reading Japanase animated comic books (manga) in one of the things I enjoy doing during my spare time. However, comic books can be very expensive so I designed this Web site to collect online resources to the manga translations in English or scanned pages with English translations. Of course, I still buy the manga (both Japanese and Chinese) and reference to the online pages for translations since I don't know how to read either of those languages. I do speak Chinese, but unfortunately being born in a Spanish Native speaking country, I never had the chance to learn to write Chinese.
